Technical Co-Sponsorship

VDE, one of the largest technology organizations in Europe, has been regarded as a synonym for innovation and technological progress for more than 130 years.

The Information Technology Society (ITG) within the VDE e.V. is the national association of all those active in the field of information technology in business, administration, teaching, research, and science. Founded in 1954 as the Telecommunications Society, it is the oldest professional society within the VDE.

The “Communication and Distributed Systems” (Kommunikation und Verteilte Systeme, KuVS) special interest group fulfills a double role for scientists and researchers working in its topic areas: first, as a communications hub among them; second, as their representative body to other institutions. It is rooted in both the Fachbereich “Betriebssysteme, Kommunikationssysteme, Verteilte Systeme (SYS)” of the German Informatics Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Informatik, GI) and the Information Technology Society of VDE (Informationstechnische Gesellschaft, ITG).

The German Informatics Society (GI) is a non-profit association that connects science, business, education, society and politics in all aspects of computer science, its applications and its impact on people, society and the environment.
Supporting Projects

SUSTAINET proposes a holistic approach, integrating research in frictionless network performance, resilience, security, and sustainability to propel Europe towards a sustainable, technologically sovereign future.

The subproject SUSTAINET-Advance aims to enhance 6G network sustainability from RAN to core using neuromorphic computing and optical networks. It focuses on the interdependence between energy and communication networks, improving resilience and efficiency through advanced monitoring and scalable connectivity while ensuring security with trusted AI and zero-trust frameworks.

ORIGAMI aims at spearheading the next-generation of mobile network architecture, overcoming eight factual barriers to ensure a successful 6G future, striving to create global single standards, promote green transition, boost affordability and accessibility, and inspire ground-breaking applications and fresh business models.
