Speedmentoring

For the first time this year, we will have a speedmentoring session to give participants the chance to get in contact with experts from industry and academia, discuss ongoing research, current developments or other professional matters.

The speedmentoring session will take place on Monday, 30.09.2024 and require explicit registration. The registration will be handled via edas during the registration for the workshop.

Note that available mentoring slots are limited and exclusive to participating PhD students. We will try our best to assign the slots equally among the registered students.

Andra Elena Lutu (Telefonica Research)

Andra is a network architecture expert specializing in next-generation network design, mobile networks, IoT, and traffic engineering. Since July 2021, she has been a Senior Researcher at Telefónica Research in Madrid, Spain. Previously, she held research positions at Telefónica Research in Barcelona and Simula Research Laboratory in Oslo. She earned her Ph.D. in Telematics Engineering from IMDEA Networks Institute and University Carlos III of Madrid in 2014. Her work focuses on improving mobile network performance and user experience. Andra’s work translated into impactful industrial innovation projects, and was published in top venues, including ACM MobiCom, ACM SIGCOMM or IEEE INFOCOM.

Wolfgang Kellerer (Technical University of Munich)

Wolfgang is a full professor and head of the Chair of Communication Networks at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Renowned for his work on adaptive, programmable communication networks, his research emphasizes flexible resource management to meet diverse requirements like ultra-low latency and 6G resilience. Before joining TUM, he spent over a decade at NTT DOCOMO's European research institute. He has published over 300 papers and holds more than 40 patents. In addition, he received the ERC Consolidator Grant from the European Commission for his research on network flexibility in 2015. He was a co-recipient of the ACM SIGCOMM Best of CCR 2019 award. In 2020, he received the IEEE ComSoc Selected Publication award. He is an IEEE Senior Member and serves as an associate editor for IEEE TNSM and as an area editor for IEEE COMST.

Maciej Muehleisen (Ericsson)

Maciej received his Ph.D. on “Voice over LTE” from RWTH Aachen University in 2015. He worked as a group leader for vehicular communication at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) from 2012 until 2016, focusing on highly reliable aircraft and maritime networks, before joining Ericsson Research in 2017. Maciej’s key research interest is in end-to-end design, evaluation and approval of mission- and/or safety-critical communication services. He has been leading Ericsson’s Radio Network Concept for Verticals research group since May 2023. The group is conducting research, often together with ecosystem partners, in domains like manufacturing, connected road vehicles, railways, immersive interactions and Integrated Communication & Sensing (ICAS).

Christian Mannweiler (Nokia)

Christian received his Dipl.-Ing. (MSc equivalent) and Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D) degrees from University of Kaiserslautern in 2008 and 2014, respectively. His PhD thesis tackled Context-Enabled Optimization of Energy-Autarkic Networks for Carrier-Grade Wireless Backhauling. Christian joined Nokia in 2015 and heads the Network Architecture Research department at Nokia Strategy & Technology, Standards in Munich, Germany since 2020. In the past, he has been working on 5G network architecture research and standardization, including leadership roles in funded projects (EU and national level). He now focuses on technology enablers for the 6th generation (6G) of mobile networks and their integration into RAN and overall system architecture. Before becoming department head, he has been a member of the Network Automation Research department at Nokia Bell Labs, where he has been working in the area of cognitive network management and SON for 5G systems. Christian is co-author of numerous publications and patents (applications) in the field of mobile networking technologies. He also is co-editor and co-author of a book on Cognitive Autonomous Networks - Network Management Automation for 5G and Beyond.
